last week i got my samsung m510 from virgin mobile for $50 with a one year contract.
i ended up getting the talk & text 25. i get 100 daytime minutes 1000 evenings and weekends unlimited texting & unlimited incomming texts call waiting, voicemail etc....
all for $25 + taxes & NO system access fees or 911 fees. =)
MY5 30 ($30) - 150 + 50 daytime minutes - unlimited evenings and weekends - unlimited local talk, text, picture and video messaging to any 5 numbers - $6.95 system access fee - 50 cent monthly 911 emergency access fee
rogers student addon (free) - 6pm early evenings (upgraded to 5pm early evenings) - 3 months of unlimited local talk (upgraded to unlimited local text, video, pic) - value pack 20 (get $5 off from the plan price plus i got it for free)
Value Pack 20 (free) - 2500 text messages - 1000 photo messages - unlimited on-device mobile browsing - unlimited email with mobilemail - call display with name display - enhanced voicemail - mobile backup - whocalled
That having been said where the hell did the unlimited minutes plans go? Swear to god communications companies (landline and cell) try to find new ways to clip you for more money with each passing year.
I just renewed my contract with Telus: 1. Talk 20 Extra (200 anytime min, unlimited e/w at 6pm, unlimited incoming, 75 long distance minutes) [$20] 2. Bundle 15 (Call display, Voicemail 10, 250 sent messages, Unlimited recieved messages, Unlimited web browsing) [$0 - loyalty bonus] 3. Unlimited My Email [$5 recurring credit] 4. My National Faves [$10.00] 5. Access fee and 911 fee [$7.70]
It's $5.62 after everything, includes call displays & emergency stuff. Does not include text message, but it's 15 cents... so w/e.
Nice! Shopping around for a cheap emergency-phone plan for my mom and that sounds even better than Speak Out's $100/500 min (though you do get the free phone..) How'd you go about getting that plan? Do tell =)
150 daytime minutes unlimited weekends per second billing after first minute caller id and voicemail = $18 unlimited weeknights starting at 6 (I believe) $5 unlimited text $10 - $5 credit
I'm not signing any contracts until Globalive launches. Hopefully, they'll offer cheaper, better options than Rogers.
thats what i was waiting for BUT i got a gf and my prepaid shot up to about 100+ a month so i had to get a plan  i swear women fuck up everything  jkjk
@bufi: forgive me for pointing out the obvious.. but wouldn't you be the one who screwed things up since YOU got yourself a girlfriend (when you didn't have to)?
yeah.. plans are $$ these days.. i hate seeing my visa statement with a big fat phone bill there on a monthly basis... ='(

Too bad Globalive uses 3G 1700, and so far, there aren't too many phones that are compatible with that GSM band. A search on GSM arena, out of their hundreds of phones, only found about 10 phones that are compatible.
That being said, after visiting the site, I don't really think much will change in terms of Canadian wireless usage and plans when they arrive. I hate it when people compare Canadian telcos with American ones...there's a big difference between the two countries.

Please kindly refrain from using that expression. It it very offensive.
You and I will probably meet one day IRL (if we haven't already. It's not like people don't know who I am). At that point, we will have a little chit-chat on the topic of respect.
90 is really expensive if it was purely a local plan, but his is an unlimited north american calling hard to put a price on that especially if hes using it for business in the states or whatever
having said that, he can prob renegotiate with his carrier
illicit, you are a mod in this forum so, therefore, could you please set a better example and post replies that are at least somewhat intelligent. Something better than "your plan sucks". I would expect better from a mod.
My wife and I also use about 300 minutes of long distance to the states and the rest of canada each month for family. The plan more than pays for itself.

He wasn't exactly attacking anybody, just merely criticising your plan and thinks you can do better.
There really is nothing about his opinion that strikes me as 'bad mod' behaviour.

It was just the level of the criticism wasnt very intelligent.
Not that it wasn't valid, he just didnt really back it up too well. Also, of what use is it for an unprovoked mod to criticize another members cell-phone plan?
EDIT: It may seem like I reacted harshly, however, if the criticism was, perhaps, framed a little more constructively I then could have described why I have the plan. Also, as with all forums I participate in: I generally expect more out of mods than the general forum population and for the most part this works out.
Well, this forum is meant to have all the ups and downs of free speech minus the discrimanatory flaming/racist/sexist etc. comments, but you're just acting out because he is a mod.
I mean, there was nothing wrong with it. If lazy or predator said the same thing, you wouldn't look twice. If you're putting something up on the internet, you're pretty much asking for it to be criticized to some extent.
It wasn't even directed at you. It was at your cell phone plan. It's just a cell phone plan. Why can't we criticize it?
Criticize away, however, I can use the same arguement to criticize the criticism and around in circles we go.
Also, I did say the(his) criticism was valid, well, not invalid at least. I dont expect ppl. to agree with me.
I believe there should be a standard for moderators to follow. Its very simple and you dont have to agree. In any case, this is getting a little pedantic. Lets just all agree to disagree and I'm sure we're all real nice in person.
PS: A plan that pays for itself every month is a good plan.
