haircut tips
just wondering, do you tip when you get a haircut and if you do how much? my aunt used to be a hairstylist so she always cut my hair but she moved so now i'm actually going to a salon and wasn't sure what the standard was to tip. thanks.

edit: +$2-$4 tip
its like, would you tip your manicurists or w/e they're called?
they sit there talking for sometimes over an hour, lol.
ps. i fell asleep while he was cutting my hair haha.
the entire point of tipping is something like this...
hairstylists usually rent 'chairs' in places, they have to pay a rent to work where they work, so after paying their rent and taxes theyre not going to be making a lot of money, tips help their livelihood
and if they dont rent chairs and are all together they have to pay their business license and the rent for the actual building or whatever...
so their time is valuable and precious to them
Also, I wasn't aware that you had to tip barber. I usually tip 20% of what I'm paying.
I got to a barbershop just got I get my hair shaved and get nice lines done.. it cost 12 and I pay 15 when I have 15, but won't ask for change if I only have a 20... I would tip more than 3, but I go in every 2 weeks to get the lines done so it's not a big deal... They do a great job too, nice lines and they use one of those shaver thingys... not the typical shavers but the knife type shavers... =)
