Just out of curiosity, for what reasons should a student go and talk to a dean or associate dean of a faculty and how would one go about getting in contact with one? I assume that sending an email probably won't cut it.
How about emailing the dean / associate dean directly? The associate dean I want to talk to is this one:
beedie sfu ca / profiles / AndrewGemino
Btw what do the deans even do in relation to student activities. Do they deal with grade changes, conflict with professors, special admission, etc, or are they just there for administration reasons?
I doubt anyone knows the full breadth of responsibilities for the Dean. Maybe if you told us what you're concerned about we could identify people to talk to?
Grade changes - I'd doubt it. Dean would probably refer you to the professor (if you haven't already) and then the official channels SFU has in place:

Conflict with professors - Can't get along with them? Maybe. This may also help:

Special Admission - Not sure I know what this means.
