University Transfer GPA

How strict is SFU with their university transfer student gpa’s?
I mean, like for applied sciences its 2.70 and for health sciences its 2.80. I didn’t
do as well as I planned for my first year in university but by the time I have
finished my summer classes my gpa should bump up to a 2.65. And by the end of
next semester it should be up to a 2.78ish. Will they only look at my gpa for
the first year? What if I improve drastically by the end of December or even by
October after midterms? Is there a chance of me getting into either programs?

    i got into applied science with 74 average, i think thats like 2.33 at sfu, it s higher though at ubc. 2.70 and 2.80 are averages so there are higher and lower gpa s ppl got accepted with. they will look at all courses that show up on the transcript given to them at any given time. just do your best, and see where and what u get accepted into, it was never my dream or anything to be an engineer, its just mechatronics is the only program that seems ok for finding a job and the institution is fairly close to my house instead of two hour commutes each way going to ubc which was an immature decision on my part coming out of high school. anyways hopefully it goes well for u. note: i applied with less than 30 some credits (i only had 16) so i had to apply as a high school applicant, and my high school grades are ridiculously high, so that may be why i got accepted even though my transfer average (now with 32 credits) is 74 (which was the same as when I had 16 credits)
