This isn't solely directed at the indo community, because I mean, you go to metro and you see all these 100 pound vietnamese guys acting like they're the shit

    HA! HAHAHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA! HAHAHAHAHAH!

You mean those guys sponsored by Puma? White/black Puma shoes. Puma jogging pants. Puma shirt and a black puma jacket. And then the military haircut.

WTF geez. When I was that age I thought a $50 bill was a BIG THING. I was so surprised ever when I got my first $50 as a christmas present. I must have kept that bill for months until I finally found something to spend it on.

(Appropriately enough it was a computer game :D )

Someone should have told those young fellas they were not tossing around 100 đồng notes. (see the article here)

I used to get $100 bills, but only for birthday and christmas. I never had the balls to carry it around with me though.

This is a really good discussion, and I think very relevant to a lot of ethnic minorities around the Lower Mainland. Obviously every culture has their own strengths and weaknesses, but growing up as an East-Indian, Indo-Canadian, Punjabi (whatever you wanna call it) I've definitely seen some crazy stuff go down over the years. When it comes to illegal activity, Brown guys are definitely part of the mix. But then again, the Asian crime influence is probably even bigger.

The only difference is that Brown people have a tendency to flaunt their "badness" which usually gets them into trouble. Asian criminals on the other hand are strictly business, and they try to stay out of the limelight as much as possible (i know, generalization). Bindy Johal is a huge example of this...Google him and you'll find countless soundbytes, headlines, and stories from his prime gangster days. He was a "high profile" gangster and that's why he got shot down. On one hand, he earned a lot of respect for the brown community so that people wouldn't pick on us (I got called a lot of names when I was young too). At the same time, his high profile image corrupted a lot of youth, who followed in his foot steps (even though they had great families and upbringings) thinking they would become rich and famous like he was.
