I'm anti-social at times and I kind of hate it when my coworkers tell me about their day... I don't really care... and I don't know how to respond... just leave me alone and let me do my work =_=

Just get a job to justify going to school and getting that nice education. If a person has full support from their parents then extend the question even further and ask: why even go to school?
Also, making money on your own feels good. Having your own cash flow is empowering and forces your parents to accept the major desicions you make on your own whether they like them or not.

Anyways, parents who are financially supportive to their children while they are in school probably do it just to make it easier than they had it when they grew up. It gives us an opportunity to get a good start, and probably a better start than our parents. Thats called progress and I'm all for it(even though I paid for my own education, my parents couldnt afford it)!
It would make no sense to waste it by not getting a good job after school. Also, you would probably be able to return the favour later in life when your senile parents need help managing themselves.
An education is nothing without practical experience to back it up. You will just forget all the academic stuff and only remember the partying!
Plus, the first big check you get can buy you something really nice and know that you earned it.

Academia and the "real world" is completely different, and like you said, having practical experience allows you to apply what you learn and create something of market value. You can have a 4.33 GPA but no experience and employers still won't hire you.

I only said if you go to school then don't waste it by not getting a good job(could include research grants). I have many friends with fantastic high paying jobs and they don't have a formal education.

My only point was that if your parents are footing the bill then do 'em proud(and your self as well) and get a damn good job!

That's what drove me nuts about my ex-boyfriend. He was just so stupid with his money. Okay, complain about being broke, but then go and spend $200 on jeans. Make me buy lunch, claiming you're broke, but then go buy some video game the same day.

I do. I deposited my paycheck into my bank account the moment I received it. I also set side 25% of my monthly allowance to be deposited into my bank account at the end of each month. My motto is: Depsite it and forget about it.

I save... probably not on purpose, I just never feel like buying anything... except food. I didn't have a job the last two semesters and the balance in my bank account didn't really move. Don't know how I do it =T
