    i heard it sucks.

On an unrelated note, the Windows 7 installation delete Grub. FML
Every version of Windows overwrites the MBR, always has. You now need to boot from media (install disk, flash drive, etc), mount your linux partition and reinstall Grub.

pretty much every OS overwrites the bootloader already on the computer, which is why you always install windows before Linux.
Assuming you're not installing one of the linux distros that tries to do everything for you, you have the option to overwrite the MBR or not.

Yeah that didn't work out, so i tried reinstalling Ubuntu. That kept stalling at 90%, now grub is giving me Error 15. I'm going to try the live CD.

AVG sucks, use Avira or Avast
Hmm, yeah I've heard Avast is pretty good too. Maybe I should switch over sometime. Then again I haven't really had viruses in a long long time lol.

That's why I specified: Assuming you're not installing one of the linux distros that tries to do everything for you. Ubuntu falls in that category.

Got it to work. Apparently I was burning the cd wrong. I ended up with the GUI based installer, but at this point I don't care. It works. That's all I need.

    Bufli, that's just plain robbery.

You can find the keys pretty much in any torrent (e.g. there were like 10 different ones on the torrent description itself where I got my beta).

  • edited March 2009
dell dimension 1100 ...got it for free from telus lol
but i had the same problem when i installed xp without drivers, except it fixed itself after updates lol
  • edited March 2009
    Try:
    http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=gen&ServiceTag=&SystemID=DIM_CEL_1100&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

Under Video, download the Intel Driver, install it, and see how that works for you.

Edit: Oops you probably want to change it from XP to Vista.. probably a newer/better driver.
