Crim courses in the summer

I want to take CRIM 104 in the summer, but apparently its reserved for Crim students or something (I'm in Applied Sciences). Does anyone know when the course will be open to all students? and when it does, would anyone know if it would be most likely full?

    That is an awful class...I wouldn't take it if I were you and had a choice...

    Don't really have a choice as the other courses don't fit with my schedule. I'm thinking of switching to Crim, so I'd have to take it anyways if I do. Would you know how Sheri Fabian is?

    That course is very dull and loaded with theory

    its not that difficult but definitely a ton of material to take in. i wouldn't say it was easy

    she's dull when she talks, material doesn't really test what you know, it tests what you can regurgitate

    depending on your background in criminological theory, i would advise against it unless you have quite a bit of knowledge in theory.

    Sheri Fabian expects a lot, too much for a 100 level class.

    I did bad in that class, if I took it again I'm sure I'd get an A, but if I had a choice, I'd take all the lower division crim requirements first before that class so I woulda have been exposed to some of the theories.

    Wait until Barry Cartwright teaches it brother. It's an easy A.

    Really? I thought that class was super easy. I ended up with an A with Fabian (what a snore) and I'm not at all a very bright student. I guess I got lucky with the TA or something.

    Anyone taking 230 DE in the summer?

    I recommend not. Tried it, difficult to teach yourself little things.

    I found taking it in class with SVJ is quite a bit of work but a lot more helpful in terms of learning the material. Not to mention the TA is really really helpful, and not too bad to look at.

    Pretty sure I would have fell somewhere between B- to a B+ doing it DE. Taking it with him in class I ended up with an A but it did require a lot of paying attention. The material is really interesting though, esp if your planning to become a lawyer.

    Fabian is a bore, it wasn't hard to get an A but it was just a matter of how much she wanted from a first year class; in fact, if you put in the effort, it wasn't/won't be difficult to get an A at all.

    I've taken 230 in DE.. and my take on it is READ YOUR TEXT especially the case laws... cause it's all about learn and apply..

    if my memory doesn't fail me..the final was to pick a case scenario (out of 3) and analyze the hell out of it for 3 hours.. so yeah.. basically dish out everything that you've learned through the 4 months of reading X number of case laws and Y pages of the textbook... fun stuff.. =.="

    I have no choice but to take it in the summer. I don't want to wait til Spring 2010 to take the damn course in lecture. I really wanted to but missed the chance this semester cus it conflicted with required courses that I needed. Meh, I'm kind of expecting to die in the summer.

    OOH, they just opened up a new 230 class, NOT DE! Sweeeeeeeeet. I think I'll just take that instead and save my GPA from plummeting.

    If you have any questions about Crim 230 (and if the material is the same as Dr. Simon Verdun-Jones') remember to ask here. I loved that stuff.

    I don't know if the prof will be SVJ... It's sessional and in Surrey. I'm so taking it!
