There are tons of Chinese Clubs on SFU. Just to name a few, there is a China Research Association, Chinese Catholic Society of SFU, Chinese Christian Fellowship, Chinese Debate Society, Simon Fraser Chinese Link, Chinese Student Union, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, Falun Gong Club, Taiwanese Association, and a Chinese Link Club...

Not sure about these ethnic clubs, but the ones I'm in, the membership sign up was closed last Thursday. You might want to e-mail the president of those clubs and see if you can get onto the mailing list.
CAC isn't a "Chinese Club". (Canadianized Asian Club) It's a multicultural club, we don't exclude or discriminate =)
For most clubs, it's not too late to join. They usually have tables around campus to accept new members and stuff, like CAC.
Come find me mwahahaha...
ETA: About the article that Desmond posted:
If barely literate Asians increasingly dominate B.C.’s financial and science sectors while a largely white-dominated governing class rules over them, then we can’t say anything is wrong, because the market has spoken.
I didn't like that sentence.
Anyway, basically want the writer wants is for all Asians to conform into White "culture" and lifestyle so that's why we shouldn't have ethnic clubs? I don't see him arguing about the Scottish club on campus =/

The writer isn't asking asians to conform to white culture. He's asking them to try to expand to other cultures, not segregate into their own racial groups.

The writer is an ignorant asshole, beyond what he just wrote in this article. He holds views about minorities, women and poor people that are not exactly caring.

He's part of a jewish club or association, hes a giant hypocrite, as per my message above this one, I gather this view from reasons beyond this article. I think he just says the things he does to get attention, like Ann Coulter:

I think you should write a retaliation article about how he's a hypocrite and submit it to the Peak

indeed, and there's an extremely high chance it'll be published.

Did you read the article? He made the argument that racially segregated clubs, especially those that hold forth in foreign languages, are bad for cultural cohesion, and certainly don't do anything for racial integration. That's a racist point to make?
And would you really dispute his other point, that there is an increasingly large population of Asian immigrants who are getting through whole degree programs with barely functional English skills? Do you disagree that this is a social problem, when they start moving into the workforce, and trying to interact with coworkers and customers?
And random, you are wrong about JJ. I know you're obligated to disagree with anyone who wears a Republican shirt, but how many times do you plan on misrepresenting his views? Try linking to the articles you're talking about, if you're so confident that they actually exist? Your summaries are grossly unfair.

yea well, you hold views on people's religion that make you sound like a total bitch. Therefore you shouldn't be calling people out on voicing their offensive opinions when you do the same thing.

He mentioned in his article that the majority of the clubs are actually Canadian born Asians (where 10% are international students). I would argue the fact that they would MOST LIKELY, in their 18+ years of life here, have PRETTY GOOD English skills. So he sort of contradicted himself there.
Well, they are sort of separate issues. There's the philosophical and potential social problems with clubs based on race, then there's the practical problems stemming from college graduates with no real English skills.
Re-reading the article now, I'll grant you that he maybe doesn't draw that distinction clearly enough.
I agree with the author of that article for the most part. I can't say too much about the japanese and korean clubs, but the chinese ones really bother me. I know it's important for people to keep their cultural identity, but the point of going to an overseas university is to get a good education and of course understand that particular country's culture. If asian students from overseas come to canada to study and only stick with other asians and join their clubs, it really won't be much different from staying in their own country. I also agree that when those asians graduate, it will be like a joke when they tell others that they went to a canadian university. Their english skills aren't up to par and they've learned nothing about canadian culture. So sad...
I've never said noone can't attack my beliefs, so don't infer that I'm hypocrite IVT, attack me all you want, I'm sure you know I like a good fight.
Primexx don't even make stupid claims that I hate everyone, theres a big difference between some people and everyone. Sure, that some people is a large enough number. I <3 insatiable
I'm not just talking about JJ's articles by the way, take a look at the peoples facebook notes hes commented on, and even private conversations I'm privvy to, which clearly you can't see or hear
...he dares not publish his true ignorance in the peak, he isn't even what I'd consider to be a republican, whether or not you believe the validity of my claim is up to you. I'll concede he is articulate, but wouldn't go as far as saying intelligent or smart
I do draw the line on airing peoples dirty laundry at some point.
Don't assume morro, that I'm a democrat, because of my womenly, or defencive of gays beliefs...why is it that conservatism, as a political ideology has anything to even do with gender or sexuality...?

In fact, some has raised concerns about the amount of ethnic clubs on campus. For example, SFU's "The Peak" ran an article a while ago criticizing ethnicity based club on campus. http://www.the-peak.ca/article/4394-enough-with-the-ethnic-clubs
As for "cool" clubs, you can try the Chinese Students and Scholars Association...
Chinese Clubs, Christian Clubs, and Chinese-Christian Clubs.
