What the hell is going on?
I posted a thread a while ago about how SFU has asked me to post my provincial marks up and whatever and how I have to get them to a specific level before i can get full acceptance... then i CALLED and told them I've been out of highschool for 2 years and there was no "provisional acceptance" indicated anywhere on my acceptance letter... and they told me It wouldn't affect me and that it was just a mistake.... now I get this:

Just call them them tomorrow, or fire off an email. Hell, probably better if you do both. There's not much else you can do right now.
Kia = Short.
It's fucking stupid I don't know what to do. I just emailed them, and I will call them tomorrow. But this is retarded I have no idea what im going to do if i'm let go.
I had to go to college for two years before gaining admission cause of one of my provincial marks.
Call them first, and theyll probably be super busy but try, then email if you cant get a response, but I would not rely on email.
they say that they canned my registration but its all still there.. :|
even if you have been out of school for two years what are the criteria your admission is being based on then? although it does sound dumb how they are wording it to you like you just got out of high school
since i didnt get high enough and i was out of high school i couldnt obtain admission cause i didnt have the english literacy requirement
esl students are allowed admission to sfu as long as they take english first semester yet i was denied entrance and had to take english elsewhere, and i just figured id do the entire two year transfer and pay less money and avoid the mountain
My Marks from HS were high i don't understand this crap.
2.) Tell those SFU bitches that you're buying the damn school
3.) Buy the damn school
4.) Fire the sons of bitches that did this to you
5.) Threaten to expel all the smart kids, their GPAs will drop and they'll be scared
6.) Move in with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air
7.) Whistle for a cab
8.) When it comes near, notice the license plate says "fresh" and the dice in the mirror
9.) Disregard that the cab is rare, and yell "yo home to Bel-Air"
10.) Pull up at the house around 7 or 8
11.) Tell the cabbie, "Yo homes, smell ya later"
12.) Look at your kingdom
13.) Sit on your throne, as the prince of Bel-Air
Say, interested in writing a letter to The Peak entited "Repeated Harassment from SFU Student Service."
Also, if you're going up there to talk to them, bring some sort of evidence. Try and get (or find) your high school transcript or something of equivalent. And don't yell at them or raise your voice. Some of these people are having their mid-life crisis and feeds off of the misery of other students because their stuck behind a fuking desk for 8 hours a day.
Although, I'm sure it could be just a mistake.
Apparently I self reported my grades in 2007 to be something I didn't get as an average in 2006 when I graduated (which is BS.. because I don't even know how to self report my grades.. nor did I even get that far) and I wasn't given any conditions on my admission offer so.... the person on the phone was like
"Well you shouldn't even have BEEN in SFU but we have to honour our acceptance."
:|
Im like "Can I have some sort of written proof of this? like.. a signed letter or something... so that if I get into this sort of trouble again?"
she goes
"No we don't treat you differently from all the other students..... "
That's not .. cool.
Plus now im all weary about it because I don't know if they actually fixed it or not... what do i do now?
"Ya I just wanted to make SURE that a mistake has not been made yet again.... so please pull up my application and tell me if the changes have been made."
"You called 30 minutes ago I remember you talked to another clerk, you dont get an email immediately."
"That isn't my point, I ran into this in May and nothing was done about it, I just wanted to ensure that it's actually dealt with."
"There is a note to send you a confirmation email on your application."
"So theres NO chance my courses are going to be canceled? no mistakes? i'm overly stressed out about this situation"
"No, your courses are not going to be canceled, just wait for the email to come in a couple of days.."
----
I'm still not sold i have a feeling i'm going to lose all my courses before I GET this email.
--You could have said can you please check or something along those lines, it sounds awfully bossy in spite of the please
If you said:
"That isn't my point, I ran into this in May and nothing was done about it, I just wanted to ensure that it's actually dealt with."
--You basically are being bossy to them, or talking down to them, saying they didn't do something right
Therefore, I feel the way I spoke to them was well deserved.
You guys are really out of step. Universities aren't some business competing for your money, they're not like a telephone company who will lower rates so you dont go to the other company.
As I said again, being rude to people who don't owe you anything will get you nowhere. For all you know those people were grad student temps who really don't care for the attitude of some first year pre-admission. Don't be surprised if how you spoke to them had something to do with them not fixing your application ;).
If you're really this upset about SFU, go to college for a year and transfer to another University.
Never ever be rude to a CSR. That will never ever help. Be polite and firm, and chances are, you'll get what you need. If you start belittling them, then you're just setting yourself up for some big disappointments.
