The fraser river is floodin like mad this week apparently due to the record snowfall and subsequent snow melt...Good thing I'm up in East van (or maybe that's not such a good thing). Hope anyone down there is OK...
I'm in East Van too. So that must be why I have nooo clue what's going on. That, and I live in a perpetual bubble. You guys are my only connection the outside world.
i'm in the city too.. but i don't think the flooding will affect inner-city residents TG.

I was just on Koh Phi Phi in Thailand (they filmed The Beach on the small island there), and it was one of the places that got massacred by the tsunami a few years ago. It was actually hit twice: the wave washed over, turned around, and washed back. They've tried to build it back up since, but they have a long way to go. There is a lot of rubble there still, and pictures of what it looked like. Plus all the people who lost everything (including family) because of the wave. Just insane...
So I have respect for what water can do to a place! A flood isn't a tsunami, but still. Anyone living in those warning areas should do what they can to be prepared!
But yea flood= bad. I'm sure our community will pull thru. does anyone else from talksfu lives near the fraser? Imelting, if u need n e help, u can always ask us :). the threat's easing off right? I didn't really catch the evening news today.
Cripes... Ok, so if you buy or build a house that is in a natural flood plain... what do you expect will happen? What ever happened to the real estate mantra of "location location location"?
So Props to those who chose the location of SFU! Way to chose a location that does not flood!

not much we can do but just wait and see, most of the places here are all apts so no one is really "prepared" or whatever
