Taking 300 level courses before declaring a Major?

edited November 2014 in General
Might be a simple question, but due to an 8-5 daily job I can't contact sfu advising so I thought I'd post here. Can I take 300 level courses before declaring a Major?

  • I'm pretty sure it depends on the faculty. For instance to take upper division business courses I believe you have to be a business major. For most faculties though I am pretty sure this is not the case.

What upper division courses are you looking at taking?

As long as you fulfill the course requirements, then I think it should be okay. Some upper division courses are reserved for students in that major though. For example in business, non-majors cannot enroll in upper division business courses until the day before classes start.
  • you can but you can only register after the open enrollment dates and after restriction to the major has been removed.
