[Work Opportunity Abroad - South Korea]: Teach and Learn in in Korea (TaLK) Program

edited November 2014 in General
Open to those with 2 years (60 SFU credits) of university education and a valid Canadian/American/Korean passport. Other nationalities may inquire.

Teach and Learn in Korea, also known as the "TaLK" program, is a unique scholarship opportunity for undergraduates who are seeking a personal, professional, and educational experience in Korea.

The program was founded in 2008 by the South Korean Government, and was designed to support public English education in rural areas of Korea. Successful applicants will live and work in the countryside of Korea and promote cultural exchange in areas that have little to no access to the outside world.

It is a high paying, government working scholarship which allows you to explore Korea while teaching elementary school English in rural areas of the country. TaLK is a great opportunity to explore Korea, save money for tuition, and seek personal growth.

Responsibilities:

- 15 after-school classroom teaching hours a week
- No Korean language skills required. Willingness to adapt and thrive using only English is a bonus
- 1 month intensive orientation prior to work placement

Benefits:

- 1.5 million Korean Won (KRW) stipend per month (~$1550 CAD at current exchange)
- 1.3 million KRW entry and exit allowances (totally 2.6 million KRW, ~$2700)
- Free private living accommodations during your contract (usually a single apartment or studio)
- Health insurance
- 7 paid vacation days per semester
- cultural trips and allowances
- Extensive support throughout your contract

And much more!
