Hi
I'm in first year engineering science and I want to know what GPA is needed to get a guaranteed co-op

  • Welcome to engineering science!

There is no guarantee that you will land a coop job.

Having a high GPA will only increase the chance of you getting a job interview. How well do you in the interview will determine if you get the job or not.

My GPA isn't very high (less than 3.0), but I've already done several coop terms. It all depends on how well you do in the interview.
  • do you need any job experience? and what do they look at the most?
  • When you're just starting your career (looking for your first coop), it's quite different than when you've already got job experience.

    First coop:
In order to get to the interview stage, they will probably look at your GPA, volunteering experince, leadership experience and so.
To get the job, they will interview you and ask you a bunch of technical questions. Based on that, you get the job offer.

  • What are the technical questions they ask? Also does the volunteer experience need to be related to engineering or can it be any other types of volunteering.

    Thanks for answering
  • The technical questions really depend on your job position. I suggest you read some technical questions book relating to your field.

Having volunteering experience related to engineering can be very useful, but anything is better than nothing.
