SFU recreation facilities

edited September 2014 in General
This is my first semester at SFU and I was wondering how much it costs to use the gym and the other facilities. Is it included in our tuition or do we have to pay for it separately?

Thanks

  • You pay for your recreation and athletics fee in your tuition. Once you have paid your tuition, you will be eligible to use any of the facilities or participate in any recreational leagues SFU has to offer. You must, however, sign your athletics & recreation liability waiver, which is on your SIS under athletics and recreation. Once you do that, you will be able to use the gym or any of the other facilities. For the gym specifically, you just enter into the gym and scan your student card at the front desk. It's as easy as that.
  • I also heard that you can only go a limited amount of times in a week based on how many courses you have or something like that. Is this true?
  • Student21: no, that is not true

Also, to my knowledge, there are two types of recreation passes.

    1. Burnaby campus. You can only use to access the gym at Burnaby SFU
    2. Surrey campus. You can access any gym in Surrey. You must take atleast 1 course in Surrey to qualify for this pass.
  • Yeah, it isn't true. There is no limit to how many times you can go.
  • @hehehe

There's more than 1 gym in surrey? Gosh, where have I been?!
  • Well, I know of 2.

    Surrey Central
    Newton
  • I meant on the campus..

I'm confused now :/.. If I'm taking courses in surrey that means I can go to any gym in surrey? Sorry if I misunderstood
  • SFU Surrey has a contract with the city. You can go to any city operated gym. There's 1 by SFU Surrey, like 2 minute walk.
