Math 232 or 240?

edited July 2014 in General
I'm in CS right now. On the program requirement's website, it says I can take either math 232 or 240, but on the go.sfu "plan my requirements" page, it only shows Math 240 as an option. If I take Math 232, will it still count towards fulfilling my CS requirements?

I asked advisor other day about that too.
She said either of them if ok to take.
though applied linear algebra might be easier since it's "applied" and related to real life subject,
general linear algebra can be more helpful to CS but can be harder since it's pure math and all about proof
  • 232 is just as useful for CS students. After all computing is one of the 'applications' that falls under the 'applied'. I would argue that 240 really is targeted more towards actual math students.

I took 232, and would recommend anyone else do the same unless they are doing a math minor/double major or are particularly interested in, and are good at, math.
