CMPT 307 - Fall 2014 - Pavol Hell or Joesph Peters

edited July 2014 in General
I have to take CMPT 307. It's a mandatory course for my Computing Science major, and I heard it's a very hard course. Both Pavol Hell and Joesph Peters are teaching it in Fall 2014. Who should I take CMPT 307 under?

Thank you.

  • I've taken CMPT379 with Joseph. He is very helpful, marking is fair, averages were high. I would say his standards are on the lower end among cs profs. But his voice is VERY gentle, you might feel sleepy if not interested in the topic.
    No idea about Hell
  • Peters class is definitely the easier one. When I took it the majority of marks come from quizzes, and the quizzes were VERY similar to the homework. As well quiz and exam questions felt easier than they could have been.

From what I have heard about Pavol his class will be on the harder end of the spectrum. If you can figure everything out you will likely learn more in this class, but it will definitely be more difficult.
