What does the number next to the course code mean?

For example, BISC 102-4.
I was wondering what the 4 meant.

That's how many credits the course is worth.
Usually classes that have a lab as well as a lecture and seminar will be worth 4 credits instead of 3.

I know this is kind of a noob question but does credits and credit hours mean the same thing?
