SFU Burnaby to SFU Surrey

edited January 2014 in General
Anyone travel to both campuses in the same day?  I am thinking about taking some summer courses but one of them is in Surrey, I would have a two hour gap to go from the Burnaby campus to the Surrey campus by transit.

  • Plenty of time.

I took two courses that were an hour apart on the different campuses one semester. I was only late once and it was because of a big sky train disruption. With two hours you will make it no problem.

In terms of the travel it self it is a little tedious since you need to transfer twice, but it is not the end of the world.
  • Awesome, thanks for the reply.
  • I do it almost everyday it takes less than an hour
  • Sucks to take the 145 bus everyday though it's always so damn packed from what I see.

@Ryan Don't you only need to transfer once at Columbia?
  • You have to transfer from 145 to Production Station though.
  • Oh right true lol. I don't know why I didn't really consider that as a transfer for some reason.
  • It's roughly an hour and 20-30 minutes to go between the two campuses. You should be fine with that 2 hour gap.
  • No it isn't. I remember it averaging around 50 minutes, give or take 10 or so depending on how much time you spend waiting for transfers.
  • I transit between the two campuses every two days of the week. 50 minutes tops.
  • Unless stupid translink makes the trains do "emergency" stops again but really it's just to test out the brakes for suicide jumpers. or make it stop in the middle between two stations for 15 minutes. Thanks TransLink.
  • I cant wait to get my car on august..no more crap from translink!!!!
  • Bigger bullshit is why Translink has a 21% tax fee on SFU parking passes? WTF
  • I think paying for parking is worse than dealing with Translink personally. Plus fuck going across the Alex Fraser during rush hour.
  • @Flash Wtf seriously? What the fuck does TransLink have to do with SFU parking? I guess they only put that tax to make up for the lost revenues from the U-passes.
  • Translink is always running scams.  They screwed over SFU students by purposely making the 144 always late/delayed.

Parking's only going to get worse.  If you look at the designs in Strand Hall, most of B-lot is going to disappear one day for more buildings.  I'm pretty sure there's an agreement where there is a limit to how many cars can go up Burnaby Mountain.  So as the number of apartment parking spots grows, SFU will surely cut down parking for students.
