Is German 102 an easy course?

I am planning to take German 102 with Hein in the Spring, wonder if it will make me suffer if I have never ever speak the language before... 

Could anyone help?

  • Only take the course if you are actually interested in learning it,and will put the time into it. Languages courses are not something you can cram. I took the course however i had the benefit of having family members who speak german. I think you will be fine as long as you want too learn.
  • It's not an easy course and not hard at the same time. 

    If English is your native language then it will be much easier for you. I took it for a week then I dropped the course. I found it too difficult for me as my native language is Arabic.  
  • 112233: Thanks for your comment! I am interested but I am scared at the same time. I think it's fun because I watch German TV shows with sub, it's really cool. 

  • silent2angels: Unfortunately my native language isn't English as well, I think I will attend a few classes before deciding to stay or not... Thanks!
  • i took it a couple years ago. the course definitely didn't feel like work compared to any of my other courses, it was a nice change. (of course, i'm a CS student)

    good prof also.


    i have family members who speak german but i don't remember ever needing to rely on them for help.
