Crim 101 with Carleton

edited November 2013 in General
Has anyone taken this course before? What was it like?
I was looking at course description of crim 101 and I noticed that we have presentations. I don't really understand because the course evaluation does not include the presentations.
Also, I assume that we do our presentations in tutorials, so do them in front of the entire class?

  • It may be in front of the entire class, the tutorial, or in a much discreet way.

For example, in Fabian's 135, each one of us had to create our own little presentation of powerpoint slideshows, and upload them to webct. we would be marked upon that only slideshow.

Since i never took a class with carleton before, i cannot say. But I doubt that you would have to present in front of the entire class in a 1xx crime course
  • There are no presentations. 25% participation quizzes and 3 tests worth 25% each
  • @crimematic but there is a "A student must complete ALL aspects of a course (including assignments, exams, class participation, presentations, chat room components of Distance Education
courses and other), otherwise he/she will receive a grade of N." point at the bottom of the page. Do I ignore that?I am confused.
  • It says that on the outline of every CRIM class haha. It just means that you have to complete all components of the class (i.e. the 3 exams) to get a grade. So, if you don't complete all 3 you will get a N. Read the "Course Evaluation" section for your mark breakdown
  • So yeah just ignore it, use your i>clicker to get participation marks and do the three exams and you'll be fine
  • Oh, I see.
    Thank you so much!
  • @kids Nice username. Pedophile?

And there are defs no presentations. There are way too many people in crim 101 for TA's to mark presentations for each individual person.
