cmpt 276 is the software systems version of 275. As far as I know cmpt 276 cannot be used in place of 275 for computer science students (however sosy kids can use 275 in place of 276).

if you are in comp sci i think you will have to wait to take 275

*edit* Reading the sosy outlines the newest one actually makes no mention of being able to use 275 as a substitute for 276. So for people who started software systems fall 2012 or later it looks like they need to do 276 (which is for the best anyways)
  • IF YOU CAN DO 276, DO NOT EVER TAKE 275

The difference is that 275 will suck the life out of you. If the course doesn't, herbert tsang will (if he teaches).

@ryan yea now they made 276 mandatory (but you can still get approval to do 275 pretty easily) i wish i started later then id be forced to take 276 :/
  • 275 isn't too bad if you have good hard working people in your group
  • 275 with tsang sure was a shitty deal for those of us without a mac to develop on.
  • One is +1 over the other.
  • 275 is better imo, i took it over 276 and im sosy. from what i heard they had different groups, mini projects etc? for 275 you work with one group, the entire semester, see the project from start to finish - great experience for me atleast, i had a pretty decent group though, that had a lot to do with it. however groups are randomly chosen with tsang - so never know what youre going to get. his exams were tough but manageable.

also keep in mind 275 is ios dev, 276 is android (last time i checked atleast).
