Phil 120W easy? hard?

edited November 2013 in General
I was thinking about taking Intro to Moral Philosophy for my W requirement. Considering I have never studied philosophy before, is it an easy course to keep up with?

  • no

none of the philosophy courses are "easy"

most people take intro to moral thinking it will be but are surprised at how difficult it actually is. You are in the A range if you get 80+

When I took this course, the average on the papers was 50-60% with some people getting less than 10%

Plus there is lots of theory to memorize and the multiple-multiple choice is very difficult. I put in an immense amount of effort in order to do well in this course. I supposed it depends on who you take it with...but if you take any phil course, prepare to work hard

  • Don't take PHIL courses unless you have to. The philosophy department is infamous at SFU
  • If its with heide, you should fine 120w in the least bit entertaining. hard, but entertaining.

I remember getting around mid 70ish percentage or so, but got an A minus due to the bell curve.
In all honesty, if you know you are good at writing, the class should be a breeze
Got over 90% on all of the assignments, but practically got a 0 in the finals.
  • none of the PHIL courses are easy. I dont recommend taking any of them, unless u wonna kill ur GPA.
  • Out of all of them though which is the best/easiest one out of them that you would recommend to take for a n00b but is required to take a PHIL.
  • ^^lolwut how high were you? is what I would have wrote
  • But a heart attack is indeed just alien space martins escaping from the body... I read it in a book. Therefore, he or she is right.
  • After seeing these comments I dropped phil 120w
