If money wasn't a problem, would you actually be interested in getting your phD? What about if money was a factor? No long breaks inbetween each degree
@MXC It's not always about that though. Some people get their PhD because they really have a burning passion to research and discover new things and develop new theories etc. and shit like that like all the original PhD people we now have to study in our textbooks.
Don't you have to get someone to fund your phd research? That's what I thought it was, hence why it's super hard for people in history and the humanities like myself to get phd's without going broke. No one is willing to give us funding as everyone's crazy over science right now
If people are getting a PhD in the hopes of becoming a professor, chances are much slimmer than they used to be. The attrition rate can be high, over 50% in some programs, and nothing is sadder than an ABD (all but dissertation).
Yeah you need to sleep with at least one student preferably twice. Usually easy the first time but second time around gets harder (no pun intended) because you need references.
