Difference between Diagnostics/Calculus readiness test

edited August 2013 in General
HEy guys, do any of you guys know what the difference is between the Diagnostics Test and the Calculus Readiness test?

Is one harder/easier? Thanks

  • If I understand correctly those tests are for two different things. Everyone in a Calc 1 class will write the diagnostic test. If they pass a certain threshold they get a percentage towards their final grade (historically 5%). If you do not pass that threshold you have to go to extra help sessions throughout the semester in order to earn the 5%.

The calculus readiness test is for people who do not meet the minimum math grade requirements in order to take Calc 1. Looking at the course descriptions these requirements are much higher than they used to be.

I remember finding the diagnostic test relatively easy. I haven't taken the readiness test, but I remember some of the sample questions seeming a little difficult. I am a long time removed from Math 12 now though.
