Cell phone plans?

Hi, folks

I am a new student at SFU, and I am wondering whether there is something like SFU student plan for cell phones..??
If not, I am just curious what cell phone plans you guys are on

    SFU has no cell phone plans. Some of the carriers probably have student plans, but in general you won't get a particularly good deal from any of them unless you have already had a plan with them for a while.

    FIDO has a $30+ student plan, unlimited international texting, dunno how much calling and no data

    Stay in one of the big 3 carriers for a while with a default plan (as in, their regular expensive plans). Go for it for about 2 years, then ask for a retention plan.

    I have one, and for around 65$ i have 6gigs of data, My10, 200 minutes, evenings and weekends, unlimited messaging.

    Sadly, the most easiest way to get a cheap CHEAP cell phone plan in Canada, is by having retention plans :(

    Koodo Mobile is really good and really cheap and simple. Decent phones with no contract.

    When your contract is about to end with a carrier, and they try to retain you, they generally offer you better deals, aka retention plans.

    Wind Mobile. Unlimited everything for $20 (add $5 for 100 mb/month). They recently added reception to SFU and it works great!

    Unlimited everything, but no data? Sounds like it is merely unlimited talk/text. If you plan to stick around Vancouver this could work. In general though the smaller carriers have spotty coverage outside of urban centers. Also it might be worth keeping in mind that wind mobile could potentially be bought out in the near term. What effect that might have on service is hard to say. If you are looking for something cheap, short term, and local though something like wind is likely your best bet.

    They use telus towers because they are owned by telus. Again not needing a contract is nice. And again prices for data are high. It would be nice to see data plans get cheaper in canada in the near future. Not sure it is actually going to happen though.

    Just stop watching Vines and Youtube and Youjizz on your smartphone and you will be fine and maximize wi-fi by stealing other places'. Thanks for agreeing with me about Koodo @lakerfanatic <33333.

    Right now with telus I am paying 55 for 300 minutes, unlimited texting, and 6gb of data. That is an example of why retention plans are good. At the same time when I was recently down in the states I had a pay as you go plan that was 100 minutes, unlimited texting and unlimited data for $30.

    BEST BUY had a plan with Virginmobile, with $40 you get unlimited international texting, 1GB of data (I suppose there is wifi in campus),600minutes canada wide calling. not sure if its still in effect though.
