Grade Appeal?

So, I have a....problem. Even though final grades are not out yet, I was very dissatisfied with my term paper mark but the problem is that my TA was the one who marked it, not my teacher. Has anyone ever done a grade appeal just because of a TA? Or a grade appeal in general?

It's not worth it. Prepare to sign a consent form saying that your mark can either go higher or lower. You must print an exact copy which the prof will mark him/herself without seeing the paper that the TA marked and mark based on what he thinks. So I guess it depends on how bad your TA was and how nice your prof is and the prof/TA relationship but not worth it imo.

I'm on the same boat. I bitched about it to TA, and after a few emails she increased my mark, and told me I can still appeal to the department if I want to argue my mark further. Just email your TA/prof and see where it goes. In my case, the prof was useless, he told me if I have any concerns I should apply for formal appeal and not even bother talking to him.

^Yeah same. Although I was just curious as to what the process was. But my prof was really the type of guy who likes to stick to the books and every little rule and formality though.

Technically according to sfu policy, prof is supposed to work with student and help him/her reach a satisfying grade, before they appeal. My prof was just a dick, his reply was "there's a formal appeal process which you can look into" -_- mabe i will appeal. Waiting for final grade to come in :p ill decide then

You could file an appeal, but it won't change anything.

In all likelihood, your paper wasn't as good as you thought it was or the distribution of grades isn't as generous as you imagine. If your mark was already increased, it's probably as high as it can credibly go.

This was in August. I'm sure the issue is resolved by now.
