Andy Shen is coming back to SFU in the Fall! ^_^

edited July 2013 in General

Hello everyone,

My name is Andy Shen. Many of you may not know who I am but many years ago, I was a student here at Simon Fraser University. But I was not just any ordinary student; I was a man who was willing to dedicate his time and resources towards making SFU a better place for both students and professors. I had a dream to make SFU a better school where everyone could enjoy themselves.

I ran for a position of power within the SFSS and from there, I had planned to do many great things for this school. Things that would benefit everyone and make this a happier place. But sadly, I did not win and my dreams were crushed. Following that, I entered a phase of one disaster after another. Eventually, I had fallen so low that due to academic issues, I had to leave SFU. But even though I was gone, I did not stop dreaming, one day I would return and make SFU into the ideal paradise for students. So I worked hard and after three years, I have returned back. I slowly built myself up again from various colleges and at last, I am back.

I know that many people do not know me but I want to share myself with all of you. I promise to dedicate myself to the school and next semester, I will have finally returned. I want everyone here to support me in my future campaign. I will once again run for the SFSS in the Fall and with all of your support, I will win...no, WE will win. For example, I'm sure many of you have noticed the increasingly high tuition fees, well...once I am in power, I will do something about it. I will make a change. I'm finally back and I will fulfill our dream. A dream for a better SFU, for a better tomorrow!

Thank you. Andy Shen is back now.

  • We don't want you back...
  • this is some cult shit lol
  • what the fuck lol
  • So you didn't win and that's why you did bad in school?
  • He said there were some disasters... doesn't mean it's because he didn't win.

Anyways, Mr. Shen, what changes could you bring?
  • So...I look into this guy's profile and I found his original thread from way back in 2009:

    http://talksfu.ca/forum/discussion/5750/vote-andy-shen-in-the-next-sfss-election

Just wow, read his opening platform...just read it.
  • "Investigations conducted by member of the TalkSFU team has confirmed
that the original poster of this thread is in fact a well known
troll/spammer of this forum who impersonated MSO Candidate Andy Shen.
The original poster of this thread is not the real Andy Shen, I repeat, the original poster is not Andy Shen."
  • Sometimes I like to scratch my bum.
  • omg it's so funny......lol
  • Well that explains the cheesiness.

Sounds like this guy was last active in 2009....and he just suddenly shows up again?

What's going on, Mr Andy Shen?

...even though this guy doesn't seem to be the real one....it seems the hate for him is quite strong....
I went through that whole thread and jesus....I kinda feel sorry for him. Although it was...pretty funny.
  • Yo, Andy, I'm really happy for you, and I'm gonna let you finish, but the Liberals and the NDP make some of the best campaign lies of ALL TIMES!!!

No seriously, unless you're elected to the board of governance for the school you can do nothing to stop the increase on tuition.  Secondly, SFSS has become a joke; low attendance at meeting, ridiculous "vision" for a new student HUB that attempts to copy UBC with the little money we have.  The strange and secret worlds of SFSS politicking.  I don't buy it and neither do most students on campus. Of the 4+ years I've spent on SFU I don't think the student union has done anything meaningful and impactful other than the student campaign posters plaster along walls during election period.

Finally, a better SFU...for whom really? We're all just passer by in this institution, it's a mega version of high school with lesser bonds and connection with people other than the few you meet in classes and clubs here and there.  There's simply no attachment for many who study here other than the seal on your coveted piece of paper that says you've attain the level of studies.

Post secondary education has become big business for institutions, while graduates churned out have more and more competition with their peers for work and lesser real life skills to go along with their degrees. Let the school worry about their "corporate branding", I've paid my fair share for this charade.

  • Whydoihavetoregister, I understand that the SFSS has become a joke. But that is precisely why I aim to change the SFSS. And then after I have done that, I will change the school. I will change our lives for the better.

I vow to flush out all corruption in the SFSS and replace all current members once I become president. All current members will be removed and will be replaced by honest and hardworking colleagues of mine. They will be selected and screened by me personally to ensure that the reborn SFSS never falls to shame once again.

And we may all be passerby's but I aim to make your stay here as pleasant as I can. I've dedicated my life to SFU and even though I shall graduate one day, I will not leave. I'll spend my life here to to ensure all future students never experience what I have.

I will find a way. I will make a change. I will make a better university for all. I don't care if you don't think I can do it. I will find a way with willpower. I will remove tuition fees. SFU will be the best university in Canada because of what I plan to do.

  • ^That's great. While you're at it can you make sure the bathrooms have enough toilet paper and paper towels each day. And maybe give them places a quick mop if you can too. And buy me some Subway and you got my vote.
