Out with Cartwright and in with Carleton? CRIM 101

edited July 2013 in General
So I'm looking to take CRIM 101 in the fall since everyone raves about how easy it is with Barry Cartwright.

But it seems that he isnt teaching the course this time around, and instead it's Rebecca Carleton

Anyone have any insight on her teaching and/or CRIM 101 itself?

  • CRIM 101 is a fairly easy course itself if you are interested in crime. I found it easy because when I took it, we studied all of the theories taught in CRIM 103 and 104 but in no where near as much depth, plus there is a lot of things taught that you should already know (who commits crimes, who is the victim of crimes, the media's influence on public perceptions, etc.)

As for Rebecca, I have never had her before but she usually teaches upper division courses, its best to just read each post on Rate My Prof if you haven't done so already. The outline says that you will be graded on five quizzes (25%) and three exams (25% each)
  • I'm pretty interested in crime, which is why i'm deciding to take this as an elective.

I've read the posts on Rate My Prof and i think the latest one was from 2011 and only one was for CRIM 101 which was posted in 2006, so I was just wondering if I could get an recent reviews.

I didnt even consider checking the outline so thanks for doing that for me. I think i'll end up taking it

  • Barry is on a sabbatical so he can party it up in Vegas.
