Co-Op Program Question

Hey-yo

So, this is my first semester at SFU, and i diddn't do too bad on the midterms, so i am confident that i'll get 'okay' marks (always can aim higher right?). My question was, when you apply for co-op, i am in the sciences field, the requirement is to have a 2.75 CGPA. Now what i am not confident on is that i may not above a 3.0, or be somewhere near the 2.75 CGPA mark.

I am keen on participating in the Co-Op program, but i am worried that with a 2.75 or low  CGPA i will not be accepted into a workfield. I am sure that they look at a students CGPA, but do most students find themselves employed in their field with a CGPA with just the minimal requirements?

    The 2.75 GPA is really low. I suggest you get at least 3.0 CGPA. 

    Some jobs use automatic systems to filter out students with less than 3.0 CGPA so you won't even get an interview

    There is a reason why i am in the sciences, English ain't my hotspot, and sadly one needs to participate in those classes haha. Its a shame really that one class can really drop a gpa so heavily. Thanks for the supporting comments, ill try harder!

    If one class drops you really bad, redo it.

    GPA doesn't really matter all that much when applying for jobs. Some companies will have a minimum that they are looking for, but once you exceed that they will be much more interested in your experience. If you meet the minimum required by the faculty there will definitely be a bunch of jobs you will be eligible for. So for the most part whether or not you get interviews will be based on how good your resume is.
