Academic Probation for first year students

edited December 2012 in General
So im a first year student and just finished the first semester. So my GPA & CGPA is at 1.8
does that mean I am on Academic Probation or am I required to withdraw?
Do I get another semester to pull my overall back to 2.0?

  • You will be on academic probation next semester. If your CGPA is still below 2.0 then you are required to withdraw or enrolled in the Back on Track program.

you will be on academic probation.

If your GPA next term is less than 2 then you will be RTW.
If your GPA next term is more than 2, but your cumulative GPA doesn't get above 2, you will remain on AP
If you get your CGPA up above 2 you'll be in the clear.

    (edit: whoops i got beaten)
  • So I get one semester to pull my cgpa up? but my current GPA is below 2 right now since its my first semester
I'm taking the spring semester off, does that mean I need to have a cgpa of 2.0 in my summer then?

you'll need a cgpa of 2.0 to get off AP.

but even if your cgpa is still below 2 after next term you still have another chance as long as your GPA for your next term (summer) is at least 2.

  • so technically right now I am on AP right now even though I just finished one semester of school so far and have my following semester to raise my overall mark?
  • Well I presume that if you do not take any courses in a semester it does not count. I think you would need to get a term GPA below 2.0 while on academic probation to be required to withdraw.
  • Well at least you still have your chance in "Back on Track" program....back in my days we don't even have that....it's either get back up to 2.00+ or RTW....
