Buses En Route To SFU Tomorrow?

edited November 2012 in General
Rumour has it that buses may not be crossing the picket line tomorrow (Wednesday, November 6th). Can anyone verify this? I'm not sure if I'm mentally or physically prepared to hike up the mountain to get to my non-sessional class.

  • Correction: November 7th. Sorry, I'm terrible with dates.
  • ya someone verify this plz
  • Yes, during SFU strike actions Translink buses stop before getting to the campus -- at the bottom of the hill...? Bus drivers, being union, don't cross picket lines.
  • It depends on where the picket lines are located. Last time the TSSU went on strike (I think about 5 years ago?), the picket lines were at the bottom of the mountain... hence why the buses didn't go up. However, if the picket lines are located near the Terry Fox Field (which they probably will be) they will just stop before they reach picket lines. The real trouble comes when we are trying to load the buses to leave SFU... not sure how they are going to do that to be honest.
  • Thanks for your feedback. I just called Translink and they said that buses will be heading up the mountain, but upon reaching the top, will only stop in two places. I wasn't sure where the places were that she was talking about, but I think one of them is the lower stop through the tunnel.
