Enrollment Date

edited November 2012 in General
All right, I got a really bad enrollment date for spring 2013.. November 20th
I'm in first year
Will I be able to get into any of the following courses?
Math 155, Chem 122, Chem 126, Kin 140 and Crim 103 (or a health science course)

Any advice? I am so confused on how to prepare for this.

  • Don't worry about it. General students don't start enrollment till November 24.
  • First year courses generally have plenty of space, so you shouldn't have any issues enrolling.
  • What are general students?

My enrollment date is nov 21 im a first year too
  • You shouldn't have any trouble getting into Math 155, Chem 122 or Chem 126, those are all pretty big class sizes. Kin 140, however, will be a little more difficult. The kin class sizes are often times a lot smaller, and they reserve a certain amount of seats for Biomedical Physiology/Kin majors. So it may say that it has 40 seats left in the class, but you will be put on a waiting list, because they reserve those seats for the Kin majors.

This leads into the General students question. November 24 at midnight is when open enrolment starts. By that time every student has had their enrolment date, and this is when those 40 seats that I talked about before open up for anyone to register.

There is a glitch in the SFU enrolment system though, I'm not sure if they don't know about it, or if they just don't care. But when this open enrolment starts (it's always a Saturday that it opens up on) the people from the wait list have to be MANUALLY put into the class by the office... which isn't open until Monday. Therefore, any students that register for the class on the Saturday or Sunday, get in BEFORE the waitlisted students.

It's a bitch if you're on a wait list, but I've used it before, to get into Kin 140. I was number 60 or something on the wait list so I dropped it and re-registered, and I was able to enrol in the class without any problems.

Hope that helped. (even though I went on a couple of tangents)
  • Thank you so much. That helped a ton.
