which is harder?

  • 151>150 just a bit. if you want a easy math, 157 or 100?  then again, it depends on which program you're in and your requirements...
  • how hard is math 154 compared to regular calculus 1?
  • 151 is exactly the same as 150 in terms of material, it just covers it in less time. If you are in applied sciences/sciences (other than life sciences) you have to take 151 or 150. If you have no calculus experience I would definitely recommend 150. In fact unless you are already particularly good at calculus you would probably benefit by taking 150 instead of 151.

the other calculus classes, 154 for life sciences and 157 for business, are both a fair bit easier than 150/151. That said though it is not a good idea to take these unless they are what your program requires. In some cases you can use 154/157 as a prereq for courses requiring 150/151, but in order to do so you usually need at least a B.

long story short in order of difficulty 151 > 150 > 154 > 157, take which ever is required by your major.
  • dont take math 151 unless you have to.. its a lot of work
  • Comparing to 151, 150 basically wastes your additional time and money. Both are easy.
  • You get a free 5% at the beginning of Math 150 if you pass the diagnostic test at the beginning. Not sure if Math 151 also has it.
  • plus while 150 is more hours in a week, you also get an extra credit for it that can come in handy down the road.
  • Thanks a lot guys. Really helped me decide
  • Math 150 is really easy... I ended up getting an A- and I barely studied for it.
  • If I took calculus in high school (74%), should I take math 150 or 151?
  • calc one is mostly limits, derivatives, and the things that go along with derivatives ( related rates and what not.) If you feel comfortable with those then you would probably do equally well in either course. 151 isnt in itself any harder than 150, its just 150 spends more time covering things, and due to its pacing the first midterm is easier than the 151 one since it typically includes some stuff that isnt even calculus. Of the two you would likely get a higher mark in 150, but if you already have a reasonable knowledge of the stuff you should be fine in 151.

as a reference I took calc in high school and got like 67, then took 150 and got a B.
  • is it a good idea to take 150 then 151, because if you go striaght from 150 to 151 wouldn't that be a bit harder
  • Or I mean into 152
