Do Waitlist Courses count towards Net Course Load?

edited July 2012 in General
Hi, I'm currently enrolled in 4 courses with 1 other on waitlist. I want to take a max of 4 courses, but I don't know if I'll get into that waitlist course. Full refunds are given until August 3rd, so I'm just wondering if I should or when I should drop an enrolled course and if dropping the waitlist course is also considered "dropping".

  • Are you talking about the $50 fee that you get charged for dropping a course? If so, then you won't be penalized for dropping a course you're waitlisted in.
  • you wont be penalized for dropping the waitlisted course now - but if you keep the waitlisted course, and aug 3rd passes and youre still on the waitlist, after a few days say (for example) that you got in the class - now you're in 5 classes, and you said you wanted to take four? so you'll need to drop one, and thats when they'll charge you the 50$. if you're currently enrolled in a course where there are A LOT of spaces drop it now, so that if you get into the waitlisted one you wanted, you'll be at four courses and you can then decide if you want to re-enroll in that other course you dropped.
  • You only get penalized if your course load decrease, so if you drop one to be replaced by another there is no penalty.
  • Alright. Thanks a bunch. These are some really helpful comments :)
