English 103: intro to drama?

edited July 2012 in General
What is Eng103 like? Just read through scripts?
Do you have to perform anything?
I tried to apply for Eng101 and Eng 105.
All classes are full..
Should I just wait next sem to take Eng 101?

  • there is a small performance you have to do at the end of the semester for marks but for the most part it's a fun and easy class
  • It depends on who you take it with. I'm taking it with Torsten and we basically have one mini-essay on each of the 6 plays (worth 5% each), tutorial is worth 20% (your TA gets to decide how that works out), one pre-midterm essay for 5% (which was basically just "identify this passage" and you got the full marks for just showing up), one term paper worth 15% which was supposed to be 5-6 pages but is now only 3-4 pages so it's only a page longer than the "mini-essays", and a final worth 30%. I haven't gotten to the final yet, but so far this class has been a walk in the park compared to other courses. I'd recommend it!
  • Torsten is awesome! Glad he still teaches at SFU, he was one of my favorite profs while I was there
  • He is! He's definitely one of the best profs I've ever had. I really got lucky during this summer term; 2/3 of my profs were amazing (the other being Justin Gray)!. Hope you're doing well in life after SFU. (:
