Macbook pro stolen
Hi, SFU
so my Macbook Pro was just stolen yesterday in AQ computer facility the first floor. It happened so fast less than a minute. My papers notes and everythings in the computer so basically I am doomed... Does the SFU security agency has like hidden camera in AQ where they observe everything? I know that there are many theives at SFU thesedays and I think they should install video cameras.. Has anyone had similar experience? Ive already reported the incident to the police and of course to SFU security.. Is there anything more I could do?

you can try to ask security, but these laptop thefts do happen often on campus (csil labs, library etc). unless you've asked someone to watch your stuff (which can be dangerous too since THEY might end up stealing it) or you have a trusted friend with you - always take your stuff with your whereever you go. somewhere very open and common like the AQ is an easy target. as for getting it back i dont think itll be possible. maybe try looking up craigslist or other sites to see if someone is selling the same and look at the post date.
School feels like a safe place, but there are thieves who target them exactly because they feel safe. Nothing will happen in, say the library for months, and then there will be a wave of thefts. It's a pain to take laptops everyone, but probably for the best, unless you want to see whether the bookstore has locks for sale. They do for notebooksat least.
