For a long time, the talkSFU community has been an exclusive, membership only forum. Our goal at talkSFU has always been to keep the registration process as easy as possible, which is why we upgraded from the old and clunky vBulletin forum software to the sleek and modern Vanilla forum software in 2010. Along with the upgraded software came the ability to login with your favourite social networking account, auto embedding of YouTube videos, and also mobile phone functionality. That was a big leap for the community, and as any community it has continued to evolve in usage and membership. One thing that hasn't changed are its values of helpfulness and openness, and a promise to be discrimination free (that's where the admins come in).
In order to be as accessible and helpful as possible to SFU Students, today we are activating "guest posting" which will allow anyone without an account to post as well. There are anti-spam features built into the software to prevent those pesky advertisements for viagra etc. but its up to you to keep the discussions civil. As we experienced with the shoutbox, anonymity often brings out the annoying and vulgar trolls. Please help by flagging inappropriate comments by using the flag link in each post. Your help is much appreciated! Without you guys, this community wouldn't be here and it wouldn't have reached over 50% of the student population at SFU. With over 4000 registered members, and many more monthly visitors, I'm glad talkSFU continues to be a useful resource for students.
