I don't get this? Aren't math classes at SFU usually scaled or curved?
I swear my mark ended up being lower than what it really should be??
And the prof is no help by ignoring my replies as to how the marks were based?

Well, curving works both ways. If your class average was high, grades could have been "scaled" down.

Turns out the prof says she does NOT curve or scale. And, also that the math dept said she could create her own marking scheme.
And since she doesn't believe in inflating marks... looks like the class got owned.

This is a class of 300 students... Wow.. and this is a 1st year math class. BS!!

i don't really see a problem with that unless the course way unduly difficult. in most cases students do poorly because they don't put in the effort and still feel entitled to a good grade
