edited December 2010 in General
I am thinking of taking 2 language courses next semester. Which language courses should I pick?

  • have you had experience with any languages other than English? more specifically, any of those languages?

another factor to consider would your future goals and aspirations. ie if your planning on working for the government theb french is a must. if your going to be travelling to south america then spanish might be a better bet.. u get the point

pick the one that will be easiest and most useful
  • apparently german is closest to the english language so it should be easier to learn
  • German is closest to English from a phonetic standpoint. Things start to get messy when you analyze the structural components though. Nonetheless it is a rockin' language and I would highly recommend it. I have experience learning all three of these languages and would rate them as follows in terms of ease...

    1. Spanish
    2. German
    3. French

I have developed a severe distaste for French and dropped it after a mere two years; just not really for me. These things are really subjective though. Hope this helped!
  • hey @amagee thanks for the info! i've been thinking of learning a new language (probably spanish) so it's helpful to know your experience
