Public Transit

edited August 2010 in General
So I planned out my daily itinerary using the translink website. How often, if ever, will I have to revise my itinerary? Do they often change the bus schedules or routes? What would I do if I got stranded or got on the wrong bus? I know that if I missed a bus I could just wait 5 minutes for the next one in most cases

(I've hardly used public transit before)

You can always ask the driver for directions if you get lost or another passenger or something. If you're referring to transiting to SFU, then checking the bus times at the start of a semester should suffice for the rest of the semester. I believe translink puts out their bus schedules three times a year or something. You can always check their homepage to see if there are any bus route changes.

You'll get used to it after the first day. After that it's very repetitive and in case you do get lost, just wait for the next bus/skytrain or ask a driver (their always willing to help).

    okay. thanks.

btw, it will probably be fine carrying a small laptop around campus, but would you feel safe carrying it around on the skytrain station and bus stops?

Just make sure you're holding on to it all times, the Lower Mainland is a pretty safe place so it's not like every other person is a thief. Stick to your common sense and it should be fine.
