How is the iclicker used in classes?

edited August 2010 in General
I know it it is "required" for certain classes, but will I miss out on anything by not having one? Will I lose marks for not having one? How essential is an iclicker to a class? I think i needed it for and ENSC and CHEM 121 class

Does anyone have experience with how these are used in class?

You get participation marks for using it, and sometimes credit for correct answers. Since this can be between 10-20% of your mark it's to your advantage to get one.

CHEM classes they're usually worth like 5% of your mark or something. At least that's how it was for CHEM 111 for me. Dunno about Engineering. Just get one, they are gaining popularity, so I wouldn't be surprised to see many classes utilizing them in the next year or two.

If you buy one used, you can sell it back to someone for the same price, or a few dollars less next semester. They're definitely worth having. Check craigslist.

Yay boring crap to read about iClickers.

In principle yes you could use them in pop multiple choice quizzes.
