BISC 102 Lab?

edited June 2010 in General
Has anyone already taken BISC 102? I'm wondering what the course is like and what the lab is like. What kind of topics are covered in the lab? What exactly do you have to do in the lab? What are the lab write ups like? Is the lab work in groups or individual? That sort of thing.

I want to take Bisc 102 because I really find the animal kingdom fascinating, and I want to leave the option open in case I ever go to veterinary school even though I'm not doing a science major. However I know Bisc 102's lab is way more rigid and unflexible than Bisc 101, so I'm a little worried!

The BISC 102 labs cover evolution (natural selection, sexual selection, genetic drift, etc), and some basic genetics and ecology (from what I can remember). There weren't any write ups, just the occasional assignment worth 1%. Most of the lab work was done in groups or pairs. I found BISC 101 to be much more interesting than BISC 102, as BISC 101 focuses on the physiology of animals and plants, whereas BISC 102 focuses on evolution and ecology. The lab final was a lot harder than the course final, even though it was open book. If you go to each lab and fill out and understand the lab manual, you shouldn't have any trouble with the lab final.
