How did everyone do? Better/worse than expected? Any really unfair courses or profs? Why? Any classes that you totally regret? Any courses that went excellent and you totally recommend?
Crim 355 with Huitson...she made everything in the class so easy up until the final exam. Told us to pay attention to her notes and then supplement with the textbook...she had 50/50. Her midterm was about 95/5. She said it was the exact same and told us to study the exact same. Fucked us all. Stupid.
On the upside, got curved way up in psych 102, which was awesome.
B+ in EXPL 310. Great class. Excellent prof (Jen Marchbank). One of those special topics classes, this one being on interdisciplinary forms of gender. I've taken a few other gender studies courses so there wasn't much new material. In my opinion, she marks a little hard (I always get A's on my papers and I got like 73%-82% on her papers so I was a little surprised) but was a great lecture. Awesome material to work with and the class is completely composed of papers (4 in total). Excellent films shown in class too -- Mulan, Forrest Gump, Billy Elliot, Bend It Like Beckham, Beautiful Boxer, Antwone Fisher, and a couple documentaries.
B- in CRIM 316 - Sexual Offenders and Sexual Offences. One of my favourite classes this semester. Material is so interesting but there is a lot of overlap within the weeks (can be good or bad). If you like Law and Order: SVU take this class -- it's pretty much that show summed up in greater, deeper depth and realistic too. Prof (Jay Healey) was absolutely hilarious. He's only a TA but had to sub last minute for Patrick Lussier who couldn't teach the class anymore. 90% exams (45% midterm, 45% final, 10% participation). All multiple choice. However, if you scored higher on your final, then he takes your final mark -- which is what I got (74%). Gonna miss that class.
Still waiting on STAT 100, which I took this morning, and I still have to write my CRIM 300W one on Friday. Ugh.
So far so good, I was aiming for a B+ average with my 5 courses this semester, but so far I've gotten two As in SA 100 and CRIM 135 and an A- in SA 150. Only course that has me worried is CRIM 103 since I found the final pretty hard. I'm pretty sure I did well on SA 101 though, so hopefully that'll balance it out.
Ooh, did you do that via DE or in lecture? I'm taking that next semester with Brockman via DE.
I took it in class but I can understand how people in DE do really bad.
Honestly, content wise, it's very interesting but there is ALOT to know.
I do not recommend taking it DE at all as alot of the concepts require alot of further explanation, one which you need to attend lecture for. I thought it was easy because I paid attention in her lectures and had a study group. I recommend making a study group at the start of the year and when midterms/finals roll around, give each person a chapter to condense lecture notes and textbook notes (small groups like 5-6 people).
It's more like an advanced version of 230 but with more detail.
I think one major reason she gets such bad comments is because she has very brief lecture notes and talks clarifies in-depth so you really have to pay attention.
B+ in analytical chemistry (Chem 215)...ah, I am relieved now. This was the only course that really worried me a lot. Thank God, I am happy with that grade.
A- in SA 150 A- in CRIM 101 B+ in POL 100 B in HIST 110
Deff disappointed in myself. Gonna have to work harder next term. I only gave a large effort for finals and term papers. Didn't even study for my midterms except a few hours for the CRIM 101 one. It's a 3.44, so not awful, but I need at least a 3.5 for my scholarship starting next term. Have to hope I make it into HSCI 160 so I can get out of CRIM 104 with Stoneman.
math 100 was unexpectedly quite difficult. May have had something to do with the fact I havent taken a math course in 6 years.
Totally agree with you on that one. MATH 100 was a tad bit harder than I thought.
My final grades are so much worse than what I've been aiming for. Completely disappointed with what I got for CMNS 130 -- B+. REALLY?! Not sure now where I went wrong. Could have aced this course. Oh well, shoulda coulda.

So much for those RMP ratings....BS to the max.
B+ in Int'l business :(
SA 150: A-
POL 100 and HIST 110 marks still to come. Not worried about Poli Sci, but History final was brutal so I don't even want to know what I got overall.

The breakdown was pretty fair too.
25% midterm/final
20% courtroom ob
10% participation
10% Q&A's
10% online assignment (free marks)

BISC 102: A-
MATH 232: A- (lost 5% due to not completing most of the assignments)
I've got my 3 science courses back already.
math 100 was unexpectedly quite difficult. May have had something to do with the fact I havent taken a math course in 6 years.
I really thought I was going to fail MBB426 (immunology)
Eff, I slacked off this semester :(
