Already on the main page too. Just an update that the new HSPA network will be launching in November, since the phone is available at that time. A few months late, but still.

The end of the rogers-iphone monopoly? Thank god

I can't believe Rogers would let go of iPhone exclusivity. I bet you that at the time they negotiated the contract with Apple, they didn't think that Telus/Bell would implement the new HSPA network so soon. Anyways, sucks to be them (from a business perspective). From a consumer perspective, this looks like a great way to kick off the competition :)

I don't think this is gunna bring in never before seen low prices at all. Same big 3 companies, same unbelievably high prices, new phones.

    :(
Right after I got a Blackberry Curve on a new 3 year contract too.

I really wanted an iPhone but didn't want to wait a year for my TELUS contract to expire on my old phone, so I upgraded early... now starting to regret it (though I do love my Blackberry regardless).

i think price will be the same for iphone contracts for now until the new 4G comes out. But im guessing there will be better plans/cheaper data plans in the coming months from fido/rogers to make it more attractive

According to a couple of articles I read, Telus/Bell really need this to be a hit so they can catch up to Rogers, so even though the price for the iPhone may be similar, there will be some sort of incentives to draw people to them (maybe cheaper data plans?). Either way, it's definitely positive news for Telus customers who were craving an iPhone...at least now they have the option of getting one without switching carriers.

Well, I don't know if the iPhone will make or break them. Sure, the iPhone caused a boost for Rogers, but from what I've heard, TELUS actually sells more Blackberry Curves than Rogers sells iPhones. Regardless, I get calls all the time about TELUS clients switching over to Rogers for the phone, so at least those ones will be satisfied.

Maybe it's time I changed providers...

I just hope that this will drive down my monthly rogers bill. But I don't think it will in the end because mobile phone companies in Canada enjoy gangrape.
