Taste of Yaletown 2009

edited October 2009 in General
Hey guys! It's that time of year again, Taste of Yaletown is back!

List of restaurants and menus have been posted online:
http://www.yaletowninfo.com/events/toy.aspx

Reserve your seats now!

Anyone going? I booked Glowbal for my birthday and I'll probably end up going to George since I've been dying to try it for some time now and maybe Provence Marinaside but other than that, the menus don't sound super appealing.

    So excited!
I have a few reservations with my bf, best friend, and work friends...hoping to get the most out of this year!
    I have:
    Glowbal
    Elixir
    Section (3)
    Brix
    Hamilton Street Grill

I might drop one or two, but at $35.00 for a three course menu....it's hard to say no!

I made a thread on it a month ago when restaurants were joining the list :) Maybe that's what you were thinking?

Coast - the seafood resto from Glowbal?

Ya...I guess it's technically not in Yaletown anymore but the menu looked so good last year!

Ya it's the one by Alberni. Classy resto with good and affordable food if you like seafood! Food food food!

Booked for Provence Marinaside next weekend and Glowbal!

Nicole, tell me how Elixir is! I've heard so many good things about it.

Will do! I can't believe it's already next week. Let me know how Provence is...I have a reservation for there later on in the event.

Off to the new Coast tonight (without Taste of Yaletown). Yay!

So...anyone check out the new location of Coast yet?
We had a great evening. The food was fantastic (we were comparing the restaurant to Blu Water Cafe...so the food was on par with there) HOWEVER, there were just little random things that would have totally ruined the experience had this been a business meeting or first date or something. We got there early so went to the lounge, or lackthereof as there was a private party and most couches reserved. THEN the VPD walked in, stayed for about 15 minutes while walking around, and eventually took someone out who was clearly a friend/bf of a server. Professional much?

THEN a couple near us was just full of PDA. As in she got up three times, sat on his lap and started making out. Really?

P.S Anyone else doing Taste of Yaletown??

I have! Me and my co-workers usually go to Coast (Alberni) for lunch. I like food so I don't have anything bad to say.

Once I ordered a chef's special which was a huge-ass angus burger with lobster poutine on the side. The burger is a little messy to eat by hand so I had to use a fork and a knife but for a sea-food resto, that was probably one of the best burgers I had.

Oh the food was fantastic -- definitely up there with the best seafood I've had! We were just both thinking the entire time that it could definitely be the new hot spot for Vancouver gangs...it just had the feeling.

    But the food...great!

How so? It seemed pretty classy to me.

You should also try the Italian Kitchen across the street. It's under Glowbal's Management too!

    ^ I second Italian Kitchen!

That was our first date a year and a bit ago! I prefer that restaurant.

online predator -- It did seem classy, but I think the Cops in the restaurant ruined that ambiance!

Soooo. Went to Glowbal last Friday. Food was great but service was disappointing. Heading to Brix tonight for a date night...unless anyone has suggestions for good date restaurants? I've never been to Brix.

    I love Taste of Yaletown!

Provence Marinaside was AMAZING. Great view, great service, great portions as well. I could barely finish my dessert because I was super full... I highly recommend the wild mushroom ravioli!

Totally canceled my reso at Glowbal on Sunday because my sister was tired. Next time!
