Les Paul has died

edited August 2009 in General
Seriously, no one's mentioned this yet? MJ dies and the whole world's crying over him, but when the man who is fucking responsible for modern music as we know it dies, no one outside the music community gives a shit?

"Les Paul? Those guitar hero guitars?"

A few radio stations have been talking about it. Some of my musician friends mentioned it. I'm not too surprised. If the man who invented the DJ turn-table or other techno instruments dies, I wouldn't give a shit. He may be responsible for modern clubbing/party scenes and I still wouldn't give a shit. Bufli might though. People may party extra hard in his honour.

Better start shredding some solos then, Spectre.

michael jackson has won hundreds of musical awards

michael jackson donated millions upon millions to multiple charities

les paul plugged a guitar into the fucking wall

Les Paul invented the technology MJ used to record his songs.

Also, Les Paul didn't give wine to little children

Les Paul is known by every musician as the creator of modern music.

He created electric guitars and more importantly, he created multi-track recording.

Without him, rocknroll would not have existed, and without rocknroll, there would've been pop.

So Les Paul invented the wheel, and Michael Jackson built the Good Year tire?

No. Comparing the two is like apples and oranges. The only thing they have in common is the impact they've made on the music scene. Les Paul made an impact by developing that medium, and MJ made an impact by relying on that medium (not the guitar, but you get the idea). MJ doesn't even play the guitar in his performances.

Huh? I know who Les Paul his. In case you haven't noticed, it was in quotes. Someone actually said that to me when I told them Les Paul died.

Les Paul had a few hits that he made with his wife. The guy is an amazing guitarist. He didn't just plug a guitar into the wall. Heck, Fender can't even play the guitar.
