CRIM 310 (Young Offenders and Crim. Justice: Adv. Topics) - Raymond Corrado

edited August 2009 in General
Has anyone here taken this course before? I never took 210 (the non-advanced youth offenders course) and I have also never taken a Criminology course in seminar form. The only entry in RMP was that the course consisted of a "40% midterm and a 60% final", which I think is absurd. I also cannot seem to find the syllabus online... yet.

Has anyone ever had Corrado for Crim? I've heard of his name, just I have never taken anything with him. Good? Bad?

I haven't taken this particular course before, but I have taken CRIM 210. The lectures became a bit of a chore because he gets off-topic virtually every class. On the plus side, he is very funny and his exams were pretty easy, in CRIM 210 at least. They were all multiple choice and the questions were essentially all knowledge-based. Not too difficult at all.

Only reason I wouldn't recommend him is the fact that he gets off-topic so often, making the lectures pretty damn boring. I haven't taken a seminar course before so I can't help you there. I did manage to find the course outline from the SFU Criminology website.

How do you guys manage to find these syllabuses?!

And gosh, that is gross. A 55% final? Thankfully, it's my first exam so it'll be nice to get it over with. Not too worried about the term paper since papers are my strong point.

I know there are some Crim students on here so I hope somebody has taken this course and can give me a heads up!

Agreed with illmatic, Corrado loves going offtopic, but that comes with his passion for research and experience with the field.

This too was for 210 only.
