BUS + ECON?

edited August 2009 in General
Hello.

Wondering if it's worth it to double major or minor Business + Econ?

For those who are doing an econ degree... What is the program like?

Thanks!

What do you mean "worth"? Is it worth doing anything? Will it help you get jobs easier? Will you be more educated? Will it help you pick up girls? Your question is quite loose.

Econ program is decent. Teach you the standard economic models and that's about it. Most classes intertwine with each other which helps. I do wish they add more theoretical classes such as labour studies or political science as part of the econ requirement, but what can you do.

How helpful will a BA in Econ be? Do current employers even care? Or is a BBA pretty much enough and things won't matter unless you get an MBA?

If you are applying for the janitor position at Superstore, don't worry about the BA in Econ.

    Perhaps I can help.

Employers, most of the time, will specifically state what kind of education background they are looking for. Also, a lot of the time you can apply with a different type of degree, as long as its close enough to whats asked for, and still get an interview just on how well organized and presentable your resume is.

What kind of job do you want to do??

If you know, then just look at postings for it and see what they ask for. That should help narrow it down. I think, though, that it would be better to major in what you enjoy and fill your breadth in useful things that can help with employment.
