Dropping a course i've already completed?

edited July 2009 in General
Is it possible? I want to apply to get into actuarial math, but my GPA is too low, and it will be too hard (i.e im too dumb) to be able to fix it so far into my university career.

If i could drop 2 C- that i have gotten in electives, than my GPA would increase significantly to the point that i have a chance.

So i ask, is it at all possible to drop courses from my record that i've already completed?

    I don't think so?

Not unless you have a valid excuse. If you have a valid excuse, you could withdraw under extenuating circumstances, even if the course were taken a while ago. If successful, you would receive a WE for the courses in question and they would not be counted in calculating your GPA. From what you've said, though, I don't think your application would be accepted.

If you haven't used your 5 repeats, I suggest you put them to use.

BSang has it right. Under extenuating circumstances (ie. sickness, accident, emotional trauma etc.) they will allow you to retroactively withdraw from a class you've completed in a previous semester. However, even if you have a good enough reason they will want to know why that reason only affected this class and not the other ones that you did that semester. For obvious reasons they don't want people dropping classes just to boost their GPA, so the onus is on you to prove that you had some sort of extenuating circumstances that make you eligible.
